RE-ELECT Kendall Rumsey, Lake Park Commission..... TOMORROW!

Dear Friends,

Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 9th, the residents of Lake Park will go to the polls to elect the Town Commission that will lead us for the next three years.

A year ago, you gave me the esteemed honor of serving on our Town Commission and I am proud of the progress we have made in that year. Since being elected we have....

NOT RAISED TAXES: While every town in America is suffering from lower property taxes and decreased sales tax revenue, the Town of Lake Park did NOT raise taxes on the citizens. We worked diligently to keep our tax rate the same as years prior, one of the few towns in Florida who did not have a tax increase!

ADDED TWO SHERRIFF DEPUTIES: Public safety is the number one issue we all face. Using dollars from our CRA, we have added two additional deputies to our streets this year.

INCREASED COMMUNICATION WITH THE RESIDENTS: Providing open communication with the residents of our Town is vital. This past year, we dedicated time to providing this information through our local TV station, through e-mail contacts and personally I have dedicated a great deal of time to send out emails to you, keeping you informed on Town issues and services.

ADDITIONAL STREET LIGHTING: The number one issue I have heard from countless residents is the lack of comprehensive street lighting throughout the Town. This November we will vote on a referendum to add new lighting to the entire Town. A lighting sample has been set up on the 200 block of Bayberry. The lights there are SAMPLES, this does not mean these will be the lighting instruments used, but it is provided to show the coverage of the LED lighting we are proposing. Our residents will have input on the style of light as we move forward with workshops and community meetings.

STRONG LEGISLATION PROTECTING OUR RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS: In an effort to eliminate the expansion of additional half-way houses in our neighborhoods, I proposed legislation to curb this expansion. With the help of my fellow Commissioners we now have the strongest legislation in our Town's history designed to eliminate this problem. We still have work to do and will continue this process.

COMMUNITY GARDEN: In an effort to move to be a greener community, the Town of Lake Park Commission approved the use of property on Foresteria Drive for a Community Garden. Ground will be broken in the next couple of months to begin the "Seeds of Hope" program.

PARK AVENUE REVITALIZATION: For many years Park Avenue has been a shell of what it can be. Today we have new restaurants opening on Park Avenue, a Village Green for events, a new Juried Art Show in late March and we are committed to the Arts as we renovate an Arts Co-op. These new businesses help make Lake Park a destination and will increase our property taxes moving forward. This year we completed a program to "clean-up" the Park Avenue alley-ways, a project that has been talked about for 15 years and today it is complete!

These are just a few of the successes we have seen in the past year. Much is still to be done and in this election we have a choice, do we continue with the progress we are seeing, or do we go back to a time of revolving door staff and dissent. The choice is clear and with your help we will continue to move forward.....together!

It is a great honor to serve the Town of Lake Park as your Commissioner. I take my responsibility seriously and will continue to put everything I have into our Town's future if you return me to office. I am confident that we are on the right path, a path that will make Lake Park the most desirable community in all of Florida to live.

I respectfully ask you to go to the polls tomorrow and make your voice known, I respectfully ask for your VOTE!

Thank you in advance and with your help I look forward to continuing our progress.....together!

Campaign Continues

Dear Friends,

First and foremost I want to thank you all for the kind words, cards and emails while I have been away with my family. As some of you may know, my beloved mother passed away last Sunday, I will miss her greatly.

With that said, I return to Lake Park with a heavy heart, however I also return with renewed spirit to work hard to win this election and gain your support! I will continue to run a campaign of dignity focusing on the issues before our Town.

Tuesday, March 9th will be an important day in the history of our Town, as we go to the polls to determine our future. I hope you will join with me to move our Town forward and work together to make us the best Lake Park we can be.

Since I was elected a year ago, I am proud of the work we have done. The Mayor and Commission has put the interest of the Town, our residents and our employees first. Personal gain has never been a consideration. Lake Park deserves elected officials who study the issues, work for all the residents and look for solutions to the challenges that face us. I am confident that I have proven to be that kind of leader.

I am asking for your support on Tuesday, March 9th, I need your vote and want to continue to work for you to improve our Town for our future.

Together we can accomplish great things! If you ever have any questions for me, comments or ideas, please do not hesitate to contact me, as I have been for the past year, I am YOUR representative and look forward to the opportunity to continue this work.

If you will be unable to cast a vote on Tuesday, March 9th, absentee ballots may be requested through the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office through March 3rd. Absentee Ballot Request

Again, thank you for the honor of representing you and our Town, I ask for your support again.

Perspective

Dear Friends,

As many of you know my mother has been ill for several months. Over the last few weeks she has taken a dramatic turn for the worse and yesterday (Monday) I was called to Georgia to be with my family.

Obviously, I will not be in Lake Park over the next several days to campaign for re-election, however my family is the most important part of my life and I am where I need to be. I hope you understand this.

This is an important election and I AM a candidate, I will just have to take a back seat over the coming days. If you have questions or comments, please continue to email them to me and as soon as I get back to Town I will be with you all to continue our campaign, until then I ask for your prayers for my family.

Re-Elect Kendall Rumsey, Lake Park Commission

Dear Friends,

It is with excitement, towards the future, that today I announce my candidacy for re-election to the Town of Lake Park Commission.

One year ago, the residents of Lake Park honored me by electing me to the Commission for a three year term. Unfortunately prior to being sworn into office, the United States Justice Department filed suit against the Town for alleged past Voting Rights discrepancies. Over many months, the Town negotiated with the Justice Department to settle the suit and in the end a decision was reached. This decision required all Commissioners to go up for election in March of 2010, which brings us to today.

As your Town Commissioner I have worked diligently to do what is best for our Town. We have moved forward on a number of programs that are making a difference in the Town of Lake Park.

Over the past year we have added two additional Sherriff Deputies to our CRA district, making us a safer community.

As your Commissioner, I put forth recommendations to enhance street lighting in our town. Soon we will be voting on a referendum to implement this program, providing for new lighting throughout our community, a step that has proven to be a deterrent to crime, making our neighborhoods safer.

I put forth our Town’s strongest legislation to date curbing the growth of Sober/Group Homes in our R1 districts. Additionally, I am working with the State Legislature to bring forth legislation requiring that these homes be licensed.

When running for Commission, I stressed the need for our community to be informed on the issues. I pushed for more frequent communication and today our newsletter e-blast go out weekly and I have made every effort to keep you informed on the issues facing of our Town.

We have made tremendous progress in our Downtown over the past year. A new Mexican restaurant is preparing to move into the One Park Place building, our Arts Co-op will be opening soon, a new Pilate’s studio has opened and we are working hard with our existing businesses to bring more traffic to our downtown community.

The progress that has been made in our Town over the last year has been remarkable. Together, we as a community have moved forward, we are on the right path and I ask for your support in keeping this progress going.

During this campaign I will stick to the issues, the people of Lake Park deserve a campaign that is issues oriented, not driven by personal attacks. We as a community are working together to move us forward and I will continue to work diligently for you to make Lake Park the best it can possibly be.

Lake Park has a bright future and it will take all of us working together to make the dreams for our community come to fruition. I ask for your support in the March 9th election for Town Commissioner. I believe in this city and know that together we can do anything, we have made much progress, but more is needed and with your support we will continue to move in a positive direction.

Over the next few weeks, I will be going door to door to discuss the issues with our residents. If you ever have questions, feel free to contact me at (561) 889-6681 or by email at RumseyCommission@aol.com. I invite you to join my Facebook Group at “Elect Kendall Rumsey, Lake Park Commissioner” or you may visit my website at http://rumseycommission.blogspot.com.
